Scythian Scythian: One of the premier bands in the Celtic Community, Scythian has been chosen to kick off ShamrockFest 2008. In the last year, fans of Scythian throughout DC, Philly, Baltimore, New York, the Midwest, and beyond have clamored loud enough to get the band to play in their hometown. Be one of the Scythian crowd and break out in to a jig, bang on tambourines, "breakdance-fight", and just enjoy some mad playing. So join the ruckus and witness the madness of a Scythian performance, LIVE. Street Dogs Street Dogs The Street Dogs are your very own punk band with a message. A message through songs that deliver real meaning to Americans living through a time of war and the struggle of the American soldier. An amalgam of ska, street punk and Irish punk, the Street Dogs have devised an experience in music that is distinctively its own. Touring the country nationally, Street Dogs are highly sought after, and we’ve got ‘em just for you! The Tossers Tossers: Raised on the South Side of Chicago which is known for its huge Irish Catholic community, The Tossers emerged in the early 90s with their own brew of Celtic music fueled by a love of traditional folk songs and punk rock fury. Using traditional instrumentation comprised of mandolin, fiddle, tin whistle and banjo beefed up with guitar and drums, The Tossers play with a furious edge that teeters between rage and raucousness. Carbon Leaf Carbon Leaf: Carbon Leaf blasted into the national spotlight two years ago with their major label debut, Indian Summer. But while they kept busy working as support on major national tours (Dave Matthews Band, Counting Crows, John Mayer, etc.) and headlining their own, this Virginia-based band continues to grow and deliver songs whose sounds get richer, whose grooves get more infectious, and whose messages run deeper and deeper. Carbon Leaf defines itself as a tight instrumental unit, capable of cranking up the heat even with scaled-down arrangements based on acoustic guitar, in perfect complement to a vocal sound that cannot be mistaken for anyone else's. Great Big Sea Great Big Sea: Great Big Sea has been pleasing crowds with their Celtic folk sounds for over thirteen years. All of their albums have gone gold and most are multi-platinum. Their style fuses Newfoundland traditional music with modern pop in a melodic formula both heartfelt and vital. A pure force of nature, much like the ocean surge they take their name from, Great Big Sea's blend of instruments like mandolin, bodhran, fiddle, and concertina, along with their vocal harmonies, revels in the melodies they create and the Newfoundland tunes they love. Their sound bellows joy and pays homage to their beloved folk music. Charm City Saints Charm City Saints: The Charm City Saints are seasoned veterans of east coast punk and hardcore, playing Celtic fueled Rock -n- Roll. Their raw sound takes classic Irish tunes and gives them a fresh, edgy punk flavor. After months in the recording studio, Charm City Saints will be raring to go when they get to the RFK Stadium Festival Grounds to play LIVE for you! Pubcrawlers Pubcrawlers: The Pubcrawlers are a Celtic punk band hailing from New England. With strong collective influences ranging from traditional Celtic music to street punk, oi!, hardcore and even a little metal, The Pubcrawlers have created a sound that's all their own. Icewagon Flu Icewagon Flu: Icewagon Flu presents a self-proclaimed “melting pot” of music with a bit of alternative, folk, Celtic and pop. The Flu takes doing covers to a new level with their unique blend of sounds. Hailing from New Jersey, we’re bringing Icewagon Flu back to the ShamrockFest stage for their fourth year in a row! Back by popular demand, be sure to catch The Flu! Ceann Ceann: This utterly hilarious troupe of “Irish-ish” guys is sure to become one of your favorite Irish folk acts! Just off their cross country tour, Ceann will be gracing the stages of ShamrockFest to bring the fun to DC. Ceann takes their infectious Irish folk music and laces it with clever frivolity to bring you an entertainment EXPERIENCE! You’ll want to dance as soon as you hear their music, but you may just be laughing too hard at their lyrics to get a proper jig out. You can’t miss this one!
Mr. Greengenes  Mr. Greengenes is one of the greatest rock show bands of all time. Out of Philadelphia they have been the Philadelphia Eagle's house band since 2003, playing all the home games pre-game style inside the Linc as well as all the major Dewey, Baltimore & DC shows such as the BLOCKtoberfest, ShamrockFest, Big Nights' DC & Baltimore, Bottle & Cork and many more! Scott's New Band Scott’s New Band knows how to whip the crowd into a frenzy, and has been entertaining fans from Philly to Northern Virginia to Dewey Beach, and everywhere in between. The crowds keep coming back for more of their favorite sing-alongs, party tunes, and old-school jams! JunkFood's live show is a high-energy party, making them one of the most sought after bands in the DC/Metro Area. Overdrive Superthruster Overdrive Superthruster - They rocked the house at ShamrockFest 2007 & BLOCKtoberfest 2007 at RFK Stadium. This band is made to entertain. Dr. FU Dr. FU has entertained thousands at events such as the U.S. Marine Corps Marathon, Broadlands Live, Clarendon Day, and FreedomFest. FU won "best local band" in the 2006 WUSA*9 "A List" competition and the 2004 South Riding Battle of the Bands. FU has been featured in the Washington Post (Editors' Pick), The Post Express (1 Top Stop), On Tap Online, the DC Citypaper, Voice of the Hill, and the Loudoun Times-Mirror. FU's drummer has published in Modern Drummer Magazine. Love Seed Mama Jump  Love Seed Mama Jump Rude Buddha Rude Buddha is a veteran of the ShamrockFest and one of the few two-time veterans of DC101's Chili Cook-Off. Hot on the heels of their hit song, Miss California, Rude Buddha will be emerging from the recording studio just to perform at this year's ShamrockFest! Sooooo, this will one of the few opportunities to check out this band until they go back on tour. Don't miss out! Burnt Sienna Burnt Sienna - A real crowd favorite at ShamrockFest 07 and we are sure they will be, once again this year. 5 guys from the PA/NJ/DE area playing covers up and down the east coast for your enjoyment . We spend the winter packing rooms from Boston to Long Island to Philadelphia to Arlington. In the summertime we head to the NJ and DE beaches to entertain and to help the breweries and distilleries stay in business. Liquid A (Just Added) Liquid A - Since we're a cover band, our one and only influence is our audience. Y'all want it, y'all got it - rock and hip-hop old to new, urb to suburb, light to hard, beach bar to biker bar, back to front, smack it up, flip it, rub it down...back again for ShamrockFest 08! Jimmie's Chicken Shack Jimmie's Chicken Shack has toured continuously since 1995. In between headlining their own tours in the US and Europe they've been out with bands such as Live, 311, Creed, Fuel and Everclear. They have shared festival stages with nearly every major alternative rock band. Jimmie's has just released their eighth album, Fail On Cue, on their own Fowl Records. High, the bands first major label single from the 1997 album Pushing the Salmanilla Envelope climbed the charts for a year eventually coming to rest in the top 10 of the active rock charts and the buzz bin on MTV. Do Right, Jimi's ode to an ex-girfriend from the second Rocket album, Bring Your Own Stereo also spent many weeks at the MTV buzz clip and nearly a year in the alternative rock charts resulting in another top ten hit. Army of Me Army of Me - "Come Down to DC", an epic ode to their roots, was added into full rotation on DC101 in the Fall of 2005 - just the second time in the station's history that they added a song from an unsigned band. Sirius Radio's "Alt Nation" added "Going Through Changes" to its play list, eventually making the song the fourth most requested and played song on the station - yet another amazing feat for a band who, at the time, was still unsigned. And now, with their album CITIZEN released by the prolific Doghouse Records, the radio story continues to grow, with adds for "Going Through Changes" playing on radio stations throughout the country. Cutthroat Shamrock (ShamrockFest Request Winner) Cutthroat Shamrock - Sounds like: If bluegrass and punk rock walked into an Irish pub and got kidnapped by pirates. Shane Gamble & The Gentlemen Blending the influences of Tom Petty, the Counting Crows & Robert Randolph and the Family Band , Shane Gamble & the Gentlemen have created a sound that is all their own. On “Behind the Blue” the latest release from this up and coming singer/songwriter, Gamble strikes a fine balance between classic radio pop, americana, and high energy exploratory jam rock. This is not a show to miss!! Everyone But Pete Washington, DC-based Everyone But Pete (EBP) has opened the DC101 Chili Cook Off, played alongside national acts at 9:30 Club and Nissan Pavilion, headlined shows outside of the U.S, and is currently touring the East Coast. They were recently featured in the latest On Tap "On the Verge" compilation CD. O'Danny Girls Join the "O'Danny Girls" for a mixture of traditional Irish sing-along and vaudeville tunes that are ribald for your pleasure. Please do not bring children to this show unless you want them to learn some new words. "... a delightfully raunchy yet cleverly PG-13 trio of singers ... " - Washingtonpost.com ThatGuy Most of the time losing a singer means the end for a band, but not for this group. After 4 years of playing the drunken frat boy card, this band has taken a step in a different direction and kicked the music and showmanship up to a whole new level! Arguably the best female fronted cover band in the NoVa the area, these guys (and gal) will play all the hits, nail all the vocal harmonies and hit every musical genre along the way. The song diversity is almost as broad as the musical talent; definitely an act that you don’t want to miss in 2008. Below Sixth (ShamrockFest Request Winner) A winner of this year’s Nominate Your Favorite Band contest, Below Sixth fans came out en masse to bring this band to the ShamrockFest ’08 stage. A local favorite, this band has their sights set on making a deep mark on the music scene. Songs packed with feeling, emotion, and lyrics that reflect true life experiences, the music combines many styles and influences to make a well rounded listen. Prepare yourself for the live show, a show where the band will let the music speak for itself. Below Sixth. Remember that name you will be hearing it alot. Crowded Streets (Just announced) Crowded Streets - Owing to their 100% live and deftly accurate representations of the Dave Matthews Band experience, Crowded Streets has been winning over Dave fans and converting new ones since day one. Every performance is a rock-star party and they always end to the same cheer: “One more song! One more song...” Rome in a Day(Just announced) Rome In a Day - From a musical standpoint, Rome In A Day has something you may not have seen before. Equal parts modern rock edge and soulful vocal styling. This Washington, DC-based band offers electrifying original music featuring strong male and female vocals combined with pure rock adrenaline. Flying Cows of Ventry (Just announced) The Flying Cows of Ventry have revitalized the traditional folk music of Ireland in the Washington area with an effusion of energy and imagination. Their music preserves the intelligence and subtlety of the ancient and powerful traditions of Irish music. The Cow's repertoire includes traditional jigs, reels and airs on the fiddle, a lively assortment of traditional and contemporary ballads, as well as original vocal and instrumental compositions spun tastefully from the finest of the Irish Tradition. Brad Pugh & Friends(Just announced) The Speaks, a local Washington, DC favorite, are shattering stereotypes, making believers out of naysayers, and acquiring legions of new fans every single step along the way. From winning every major music competition they've entered, rocking crowds of 25,000+ people, having a #1 hit overseas and still being indie is unique in this day and age. Everyone's favorite DC101 personality, Roche, says, "I came across The Speaks unexpectedly and I was blown away by the band's music. They have the unique ability to make all their songs sound like an anthem that every listener can connect to... they sound like what rock music should sound like!"
